Takenoko

Takenoko is objective racing with panda sabotage. Experts rush 3-point objectives early while denying opponents bamboo growth needed for their cards.

Quick winning principles

  • Rush 3-point objectives before opponents can block.
  • Move panda to eat opponents' irrigated bamboo, not random plots.
  • Irrigate before growing—unirrigated growth is wasted.
  • Weather tiles: sun for movement, rain for irrigation, wind for two actions.

Ideal strategy

  1. 1

Objective racing: complete 2 easy objectives (gardener/panda) before pursuing 3-point plot objectives—early points compound turn advantage.

  2. 2

Panda denial: track opponents' objective cards; eat bamboo on plots matching their color needs—denial is worth 2-3 points swing.

  3. 3

Irrigation priority: irrigate 3 plots before any growth action—unirrigated bamboo is vulnerable to panda and scores nothing.

  4. 4

Weather exploitation: wind tile enables move+grow+eat in one turn—save wind for objective completion turns.

  5. 5

Emperor objective: when 3-point emperor card appears, rush it—only one player can complete and it ends the round race.
