Quick winning principles
- Always prefer hop chains over single-step moves — one hop can equal 3-5 steps.
- Occupy the center star point early for maximum hop options in all directions.
- Spread pegs across your triangle base — clustered pegs limit hop chains.
- Block opponent star points to force them into longer routes.
Ideal strategy
- 1
Hop chain optimization: plan moves that chain 3+ hops by positioning pegs as stepping stones. A single turn can advance a peg 8+ spaces.
- 2
Star point control: the six star points around center are the highest-value squares. Occupy yours and contest center.
- 3
Opening: move base-row pegs toward center star, not directly forward — diagonal hops are longer than straight advances.
- 4
Blocking: place a peg on opponent's target star point to add 4+ moves to their route.
- 5
Peg distribution: keep 2-3 pegs in your base as hop anchors while advancing leaders.
- 6
Endgame: when one peg is 3 hops from goal, clear a hop lane by moving blockers sideways — never advance blockers forward.
