Quick winning principles
- Play doubles early to open the board or late to block — never midgame without purpose.
- Count remaining pips in opponent hands — play to maximize their unplayable total.
- Hold diverse suits (numbers) to maintain play options on both ends.
- Force passes by closing ends to numbers you hold exclusively.
Ideal strategy
- 1
Pip counting: track total pips dealt minus played. When opponent passes, they lack that number — narrow their options.
- 2
Board control: prefer playing to ends where you hold the connecting tiles. Control both open ends when possible.
- 3
Double strategy: play high doubles (9-9, 8-8) early to dump pips; save low doubles for blocking.
- 4
Spinner management: in games with a spinner, branch early to create four ends you can control.
- 5
Endgame lockout: when holding 3-4 tiles, play to leave ends matching only your tiles — force pass and win on pip count.
- 6
Draw discipline: draw only when necessary; each draw reveals information about your hand size.
