Quick winning principles
- Five crosses in one row earns a star — prioritize nearly-complete rows.
- Complete columns for bonus points before locking colors.
- Use white dice on opponents' turns when your row fits.
- Track penalty Xs — four mistakes ends your game.
Ideal strategy
- 1
Star bonus: five crosses in a single color row scores a star (typically 2 points). Push one row to 4 crosses early, then complete on any matching roll.
- 2
Column completion: three colors cross in each column. Completing a column scores bonus — plan crosses so columns fill evenly.
- 3
Color row asymmetry: like Qwixx, red/yellow ascend and blue/green descend. Stars are easier on short rows if you start extremes early.
- 4
White dice opportunism: cross on other players' turns without using your active roll. This is free progress — never skip a white cross on your color.
- 5
Lock decision: Qwinto locks are less punishing than Qwixx but still deny opponents. Lock when you have star + column bonus secured.
- 6
Penalty management: one X per impossible cross attempt. Don't gamble on low-probability crosses when you have 3 Xs.
