Quick winning principles
- Lock a color when opponents need that row more than you.
- Avoid penalties — each X costs 5 points at game end.
- Cross off rightmost available number when colors are equal value.
- White dice sum helps everyone — use it before opponents when ahead.
Ideal strategy
- 1
Color locking: locking ends that color for all players and gives the locker +2 (or +1 in some editions). Lock when your row is advanced and opponents have more to gain.
- 2
Penalty avoidance: you get 4 Xs before elimination. Each unused cross opportunity costs potential; each X costs 5. Never skip a free white-dice cross unless it helps opponent more.
- 3
Row priority: red/yellow ascend (2-12), blue/green descend (12-2). Cross the extreme ends first — 2 on red and 12 on blue are hardest to reach later.
- 4
White dice sharing: the active player must use one die; white sum is available to all. Cross your row on opponents' turns when white fits.
- 5
Lock timing: lock red at 2-3-4-5-6 crossed if opponents have 2-3 red only — they lose the row entirely.
- 6
Endgame: count remaining crosses needed for bonus boxes. A row bonus (5+ crosses) is worth more than one penalty risk.
