Quick winning principles
- Draft 6-8 cards before committing to a color.
- Block the longest unclaimed route segment opponents need.
- Keep at least one short destination for late completion insurance.
- Draw from deck when color you need is visible in face-up row.
Ideal strategy
- 1
Route blocking priority: identify opponents' likely destinations from early station placement; block the bottleneck segment, not the whole route.
- 2
Card tempo: 6-8 card draws before first claim; premature claims telegraph routes and invite blocks.
- 3
Destination risk: hold one 4-6 point destination completable in 3 turns as insurance; long destinations only with 20+ cards in hand.
- 4
Face-up row denial: take cards from face-up even if not needed to deny opponents their color—especially late game.
- 5
Endgame train count: reserve 2-3 trains for a 1-segment completion; running out with incomplete destination is -point swing.
