Quick winning principles
- Call with two trump including a bower from any seat.
- Second seat should call aggressively — pass only garbage.
- Go alone when you hold both bowers and ace of trump.
- Lead trump early to pull opponents' trump out.
Ideal strategy
- 1
Bower hierarchy: right bower is unbeatable; left bower is second trump. Count bowers before calling — one bower plus ace is often enough from second seat.
- 2
Second seat aggression: you see one round of passes. Call thin with two trump — waiting lets dealer pick up cheaply.
- 3
Going alone: at 8-9 points, alone for 4 is match-winning. Need both bowers or right bower + ace + off-ace.
- 4
Trump lead strategy: pull trump when you have length — three or more trump led early empties opponents before you cash aces.
- 5
Defensive passing: in first seat, pass marginal hands to let partner call from second with more information.
- 6
Stick the dealer: when everyone passes round two, dealer must call — factor this when passing as dealer's left.
