Quick winning principles
- Pass the 2 of clubs to force the lead and control the first trick.
- Void clubs early so you cannot win the first trick accidentally.
- Hold low spades until the queen has been played or is safe.
- Dump point cards on players who are already collecting hearts.
Ideal strategy
- 1
Opening lead logic: with the 2 of clubs you choose who eats the first trick. Pass it to the player least likely to dump points on you.
- 2
Shoot-the-moon detection: if an opponent takes an early heart and keeps winning tricks, feed them low cards instead of points — or take the moon yourself if you can absorb all 26.
- 3
Spade management: leading low spades after the queen is out strips opponents of exit cards. Before the queen appears, never lead spades from length.
- 4
Passing strategy by hand strength: pass high hearts and the queen on weak hands; pass low clubs and middle spades on strong avoidance hands.
- 5
Endgame counting: with 3 hearts and the queen still out, know exactly who must take the last trick and force the queen onto the leader.
