Love Letter

Love Letter is pure deduction in 16 cards. Experts track every played card, calculate Guard odds, and engineer Princess discards when opponents hold Countess.

Quick winning principles

  • Track all played cards — the deck is only 16 cards.
  • Use Guard on players who haven't been targeted yet.
  • Hold Princess until you can win or force a discard.
  • Priest reveals — use before Guard when hands are unknown.

Ideal strategy

  1. 1

Card counting: with 16 cards and 2-4 players, knowing 8 played cards makes Guard ~33% per guess. Eliminate impossible targets first.

  2. 2

Guard targeting: aim at players who haven't been guessed — they're more likely to hold high cards opponents avoided checking.

  3. 3

Princess trap: when you hold King or Prince, targeting a player with unknown high card can force Princess discard via Prince.

  4. 4

Countess deduction: if Baron was played and no one died, Countess is in someone's hand paired with King — Priest confirms.

  5. 5

Endgame with 2 players: if 5+ cards are visible, calculate exact remaining distribution before Guard guessing.

  6. 6

Round EV: one token lead means play safe with Handmaid and Priest; when behind, Prince gambles for eliminations.
