Small World is race/power combo efficiency and decline timing. Experts value combos by regions held per turn and decline before power is exhausted.

Quick winning principles

  • Combo value: regions held × coins per turn.
  • Decline when you can't expand—don't overextend.
  • In decline: 1 coin per region, no attacks.
  • Avoid contested regions—spread to empty areas.

Ideal strategy

  1. 1

    Combo valuation: Tritons (water) + Flying = 8+ regions; Zombies + Diplomat = slow but steady. Value = regions × turns before decline.

  2. 2

    Decline timing: decline when 2+ regions are contested and you can't conquer new—decline at peak, not after losses.

  3. 3

    In-decline income: 1 coin per region in decline; position decline tokens on high-value regions.

  4. 4

    Region count: 6 regions beats 4 with better combo—quantity over quality in early game.

  5. 5

    Power exhaustion: Skeletons grow on decline; decline Skeletons when at 10+ tokens for maximum final income.

  6. 6

    Endgame: last race should be high-coin (Humans, Sorcerers) for final round scoring.
